Downtown Portland: Restaurants and Real Estate excitement!
Although Portland’s Downtown is mainly a business district, condos are available in a few larger and newly constructed complexes. With a median price of $337,000, a Downtown Portland Condo provides many of the conveniences and amenities of a much larger city at more manageable rates. Portland’s downtown restaurant scene has sparked, and all the excitement has shifted! From creative Japanese food at Miyake, to Five Fifty-five for a twist on American food, to relaxed Thai cuisine at Boda, or Emilitsa, a chic space for Greek food, and for a fancier feast at David’s.
On the real estate side many developments in Portland, ME, are still being completed and plans. The Clapp Memorial office building located on 443, Congress St, is being converted into condos. The lower floors of the Clapp Memorial building have been occupied by 2 commercial tenants: Portland Chamber of Commerce and Planned Parenthood.
There will be 28 total units: 8 two-bedroom units, 16 one-bedroom units, and 4 studio units. Four of the units will meet the city’s requirement for affordable housing. Each unit is reasonably priced, and includes AC/heat, gas cooking, granite countertops, washer/dryers assembled with each unit.
Recently, the Portland City Council approved a law requiring new developments to set-aside 10% of their units as affordable housing for middle-income buyers.
Be on the lookout for these units to hit the market in early January, 2018! In the meantime, take a tour of downtown through this video:)
