Bridgton ME Housing Overview
Bridgton is located just north of Sebago Lake in Southern Maine. Prior to its incorporation in 1794, the town was known as Bridgetown Plantation, a parcel of land granted to Moody Bridges by the Massachusetts General Court. In the following years, over 10 mills were built along Stevens Brook, producing goods such as lumber, textiles, and shoes. With such a booming industry, Bridgton saw a large population increase which was further exacerbated by the completion of the Theodore Roosevelt International Highway (Route 302) in 1919. Today, people come to build their homes, and spend their summers scattered along lakes and ponds throughout.
